The CAA, founded in 1921 by Stephen Leacock and other well known writers, has 12 active branches from Halifax to Victoria today. National information: www.CanAuthors.org
The Vancouver branch holds meetings 9 months of the year, as well as December and July/August social events. Regular monthly meetings - Sept. to Nov., and Jan. to June are $5.00 for non-members, and open to all interested writers, editors and our reader/listener fans. There is a free, e-mail reminder list.
Vancouver CAA meetings are on the 2nd Wednesday of each listed month.
Meetings are at 938 Howe Street, Alliance for the Arts building (across from Law Courts) in Vancouver.
Suite 100 is the board room on the main floor. Meetings start at 7 pm sharp with a speaker who is announced in the media: Georgia Straight, Vancouver Sun's Queue, and others.

Each CAA meeting has a book table display of published works by our authors and handout leaflets on the CAA at each meeting. At 8:30 pm, it is "Mix and Mingle" time when writers can talk individually to the guest speaker and to each other. Newcomers can query CAA members on various benefits of CAA membership as well as ask about their own concerns in their writing careers.
